About the author:
Serena Lukas Bhandar is a writer, educator, MA student, and witch of Punjabi Sikh and Welsh ancestry.
Serena writes stories about the love and pain of marginalized bodies—the parts of ourselves that bring us closer to one another, and the parts that dissociate us from the rest of the world. There have always been people of marginalized genders and other identities, who loved themselves and others like them in defiance of societal restrictions and state-enacted violence. Our diverse stories are numerous, and reveal much of our world’s unspoken rules through their transgressions.
Serena’s first chapbook of poetry, this dying body, will be published in June with Rahila’s Ghost Press, and her edited issue of Room magazine, focused on the theme of ancestors, is currently available. She currently lives in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal.
