About

We are a Vancouver-based press with the goal of publishing limited-edition poetry chapbooks by emerging and established writers. We aim to produce fine books of the very best contemporary writing. Each season’s new titles will feature the cover artwork of a visual artist or illustrator.

We strongly encourage women, writers of colour, LGBTQ writers, Indigenous writers, and writers with disabilities to submit. For more information, please visit our submissions page.

RG Press operates on unceded Musqueam, Sḵwxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh land.

In March of 2016, Curtis and I drove to Dysart, Saskatchewan to research my Canadian-Romanian heritage. Rahila Corches (1888-1914), my great-great-grandmother and a mother of three, immigrated from Campeni, Romania with her husband Samson.

During the harsh winters, she struggled with physical and emotional hunger. She helped Samson construct and maintain their sod home. To learn English, she spent afternoons doing laundry and cooking with families in Dysart. Like myself, she loved to read.

She died of cholera at twenty-six years old. When Samson passed in 1920, he was buried in the St. George Romanian Orthodox Cemetery away from his wife. Online listings claim her body is with Samson’s. We never found her.
